PARIMA Manila 2024 Conference "Global Risks, Asia's Response"

The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association is delighted to announce the commencement of the PARIMA 2024 Conference in Manila, to be held on 29th and 30th May at Shangri-la The Fort, Manila...

This will be the first post-pandemic flagship Conference in the Philippines, drawing inspiration from two successful preceding PARIMA Manila Conferences in 2017 and 2019. The event aims to bring together over 300 risk and insurance professionals from the Philippines and across the Asia-Pacific region.

With Asia constituting over half of the world’s population and a substantial portion of the anticipated GDP growth for the upcoming decade, the success of Asian businesses, societies, and governments in adapting to a heightening VUCA world also reverberates globally. The imperative for agility and efficiency to navigate through the evolving regional and global landscapes cannot be pushed aside. Therefore, the overarching theme for PARIMA’s 2024 Conferences in Manila, Mumbai, and Taipei is "Global Risks, Asia’s Response", highlighting Asia's resilience amidst challenges. The Conference will shine the limelight on topics of key concern for the risk & insurance community in the Philippines, such as NatCat and Parametrics, Cyber Risk, Geopolitical Risks and Supply Chain Disruption, People Risks, Captives, Emerging Risks, and Climate Change.

The two-day conference will begin on 29th May, featuring a day exclusively designed for risk managers to participate in the PARIMA member-only forum and four masterclasses centered on Artificial Intelligence, Climate Resilience, Natural Catastrophes, and Claims Management, facilitating in-depth discussions and interactive sessions among participants. The next day, 30th May, will see 13 insightful discussions covering Geopolitical Risks and Supply Chain Disruption, Cyber Risks, NatCat and Parametrics, Emerging Risks, Captives, People Risks, Impact of Globalisation, Climate Change, and more. Each session aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills they need to be a step ahead of these risks and fortify their organisation’s ability to withstand and respond to global challenges.

PARIMA is honoured to welcome Sec. Robert E.A Borje, Vice Chairperson and Executive Director, Climate Change Commission, for his keynote address on the risks and impact of climate change on Philippine society and the economy. Additionally, Jaime Urquijo, Chief Sustainability and Risk Officer at Ayala Corporation, Jaime Moraza, Head of Strategy and Business Development at Pilmico International Pte Ltd., and Ms. Karen Davila, an award-winning broadcaster and journalist from ABS CBN, will partake in a panel discussion delving into industry leaders' transition into new roles, alongside the risks and opportunities they encounter. Furthermore, PARIMA welcomes Celine Murillo, an Environmentalist and Storyteller, who will deliver an interactive presentation highlighting the wonders of Philippine biodiversity and natural heritage, while also addressing the critical impacts of climate change.

Distinguished global and regional leaders from the risk and insurance sector will also grace the conference, including Martin South, President and Chief Executive Officer at Marsh; David Jacob, Chief Executive Officer at Marsh McLennan Asia; Jane Drummond, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia-Pacific at Aon; Robert Drysdale, Head of Southeast Asia at Descartes Underwriting; Paddy Harman, Senior Underwriter – Political & Financial Risk at Sompo, and more.

More noteworthy attendees from important corporations in the Philippines and across APAC include Risk and Insurance professionals from organisations such as Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Asian Development Bank, Ayala Corporation, International Finance Corporation, GoTyme Bank Corporation, Manila Water Company Inc., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., MTR Corporation, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Okada Manila, Philippine Social Security System, Rolls-Royce, Telus international, Toyota Financial Services Philippines Corporation, Vivant Corporation, Weybourne Holdings Pte Ltd., and many more.

The PARIMA Manila 2024 Conference is made possible by the support of its industry partners, with Aon as the platinum sponsor, Marsh as the Knowledge Partner, Descartes Underwriting and Sompo Philinsure+Gallagher as gold sponsors, and AIA, Labuan IBFC, BPI/MS Insurance, Starr Insurance Companies, and Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, as silver sponsors.

For the first time, PARIMA will host back-to-back conferences in Manila in May and Mumbai in June. The final leg of the PARIMA 2024 Conferences will take place in Taipei in November. Having successfully organised conferences in various cities over the past 10 years, including Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, PARIMA continues to provide valuable platforms for local risk and insurance professionals to expand their networks and enhance their ability, contributing to the growth and development of the risk management profession across the Asia-Pacific region.
